Lockdown Sketchbook

At first I viewed the Covid-19 lockdown period as a time when I would be able to concentrate on my art without the usual everyday distractions. And yet, as the world changed, and in common with many other artists, I found myself stuck. Prompted by one of the many sketchbook projects being run online, I went back to basics and started some mark making. It wasn’t long before I wanted to take these marks onto the glass and so this series of small dishes and wall panels evolved; initially focused on abstract marks; then extending the technique to sketches of my beloved coastal landscape.

These pieces are currently on display as part of the ‘Material Matters’ exhibition with the ReMix group at Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham, Cheshire.
